Start of work with all
trees removed, prior to the commencement of work this
home was previously completely hidden from the
road.
Stage
1
Underside of house
cleared, steel beams for transport set up on the left
hand side. Note the cut for this home to be transported
in two sections will be made through the hallway on the
right of our support steel. All doors and windows have
been boarded up to minimise vandalism or
theft.
Stage
2
All French doors and
front door removed for restoration. Kitchen and bathroom
areas demolished and all wall linings removed ready for a
complete rebuild.
Stage
3
The work continues with
all hands on deck removing over 100 years of layered
paint, missing verandah brackets are marked and cut to
the original design. Note how all mouldings and trim
pieces are carefully removed, denailed, striped and
sanded to ensure the best possible final
finish.
Stage
4
Ready for
repainting after many hours of paint removal
and meticulous sanding these hoop pine fixed door
surrounds and verandah brackets are the first
finished on this mammoth job. Next in the process
for these pieces will be repainting and
reglazing.
Note # The finish seen
on these pieces is back to the original late 1800s
although still waiting on the trim pieces which had
a darker stained finish and the original coloured glass,
this is a good example of some the home as it stood at
the turn of the century.
